We offer the modification and installation of the L-2 Astronomik filter for all Canon EOS cameras as well as certain Nikon, Sigma, Sony, Pentax, and Fuji models.
This modification transforms your camera, giving it the real capability to photograph all deep sky objects. The filter we place in your camera body is the best available and provides all the advantages of everyday photography (focus and autofocus with a lens, viewfinder, and parafocalized sensor: the image is sharp in both cases).
NEW: We now offer the 4'Astro modification/re-filtering for Canon EOS R100, R8, R6, R10, and R50 cameras as well as the SIGMA FP and FP-L, the world's smallest full-frame cameras with exceptional low-light performance, and the SONY ALPHA 7SIII and ALPHA 7IV.
The Sigma FP is currently the best astrophotography camera, thanks to its extremely low read noise (under one electron from 1250 ISO), high dynamic range, and unprocessed DNG RAW format.
The 4'Astro modification allows the precious H-Alpha line to pass through, then sharply cuts off the infrared. The camera regains its full sensitivity in red, and the images show much more extended nebulae.

A modified 4'Astro camera is therefore completely versatile for both day and night use, with ultimate near-IR cut-off. There is no risk of pink halos around bright stars as can happen with partial modification. Only infrared work is impossible. It is not necessary to add an anti-IR filter in the optical path when taking astronomical images.

We modify your camera, the original anti-infrared filter is removed and replaced with an appropriate 4'Astro filter, then the camera is reassembled, cleaned, inspected, and tested (photographic dust check, work under laminar flow hood) before being carefully repackaged and shipped back to you.

The 4'Astro modification causes a change in the camera's white balance. However, this does not make the camera unusable for daytime photography! To achieve a good white balance in everyday photography, you can follow our short explanatory video and see the before/after results on our White Balance page.
